American President Barack Obama visits Ireland

I thought that Barack Obama’s speech was inspiring to listen to and to watch. I thought that it was so important for him to visit Ireland he is an inspiration for so many people on this country!
The children in Beaumont Hospital School were learning about American President Barack Obama’s visit to Ireland on Monday 23/5/2011. Using lino printing some of the children made prints of Barack Obama’s head. Lino printing is when you cut out a shape or pattern from lino leaving a raised surface onto which paint is put. Then the piece of lino is put paint side down onto a piece of card and using a weighted roller transferred onto the card.
Mathew cut out the lino for us. Here is a picture of the lino with Obama’s features cut out.
Then David and Nicholas added the paint to the lino and transferred the image onto card. Here are some pictures of the finished article.
