Chaos at Candy Cottage.

A story by Niamh

My name is Joe and I’m a builder from Creative Construction Company.  A while ago a woman called me asking for a very weird favour.  She wanted me to build her a cottage made out of candy! Even though this sounded very hard, I thought I’d give it a go. The woman’s name was Wanda. She had warts and spots at the end of her nose, crazy, curly white hair and she wore a black cloak. I told her that I thought that building the cottage would be impossible, but she insisted I build it and she offered me a lot of money.

I got to work straight away. She gave me a list of things to buy. So I went to Tesco and bought cookies, chocolate, lollypops and all other sorts of candy that you could imagine.

When we got to the building site I began to put up the walls made of gingerbread and chocolate, they were very heavy and couldn’t stand up properly. Then I stuck the cookies and the candy on to the sides. When I tried to hammer them on, they crumbled away in my hands! The cottage was a disaster but finally I finished in the middle of summer. It was very warm and the walls became sticky and started to melt! Because all the candy was melted and sticky it attracted flies and bumble bees. Wanda was very, very angry and didn’t even want to pay me! I stormed off in a huff and walked through the forest.

After that I never heard of the candy cottage or Wanda ever again.

Conor has been working hard using papier Maché to make our latest addition to fairytale world.

Can you guess what it’s going to be?

Then it starts to get messy.

With help from Eadaoin, Dlylan, Conn and Conor it looks good enough to eat.

Liam and Conn know that if you’re ever going to get out of the Enchanted forest that sign posts can help. If only Hansel had made a signpost like Conn’s.

Liam’s path to the enchanted forest even has tasty breadcrumbs. The birds love them. But they won’t help Hansel and Gretel get home….
